Types of Gifts
Contributions can take many forms and the Foundation welcomes any and all financial gifts. Such contributions may be made as one-time gifts or as multi-year pledge payments.
All gifts made to the Foundation are designated for use by the Board of Directors for a venture grant, special project, or scholarship opportunity. Gifts at the Founder's level ($10,000+) will be eligible for earmarking toward a specific type of grant, project, or scholarship.
Types of gifts may include:
Family: A gift made by an entire family. This type of gift may be attractive in that a combined effort among family members may yield a more substantial contribution to the Foundation.
Tribute: A charitable gift to honor a special person in one’s life. This contribution is in lieu of traditional material gifts and allows a donor to support a worthy organization as a way of honoring a good friend or special someone.
Occasional: A gift made in honor of a loved one at a special time such as Mother’s or Father’s Day, the birth of a child or grandchild, anniversary and other special occasions.
Take Losses: A gift made as a result of investment losses. If investments have decreased in value, consider selling them, thereby creating a loss which may be deductible, and making a donation to the Foundation. This technique may actually allow you to deduct more than the current value of the investment, thereby minimizing the impact of the loss.
Contributions may be made to the Foundation in a number of ways including:
Cash: Cash gifts (given in the form of personal or company check) are the most common form of contribution. Gifts of cash are generally deductible in amounts up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. Any unused deductions can be used in as many as five future tax years.
Cash Alternatives: Gifts can be made in the form of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other properties that have increased in value.
All donations are tax-deductible and support the educational efforts of the Tyrone Area School District.
