TAEF Grant Projects
Mark Murphy, Tyrone Band Director and Ben Mordan, Ag Science Instructor, each received a $500 grant from the Foundation for special extra-curricular projects.
Mr. Murphy will be commissioning an original jazz composition to be debuted by the Tyrone Area High School Jazz Ensemble in combination with the Rich Hirsch Jazz Combo in February 2011. Rick Hirsch is a local musician and composer who will compose the original work and will also offer a two-hour workshop with the students.
Mr. Mordan and his TAHS Ag Science/FFA students will design and implement an age-appropriate lesson incorporating activities and supplies found in the daily lives of young learners to engage and motivate them to explore and discover information about the world around them. The lessons will be designed for all students in the district, pre-K through grade 12.
The Foundation would like to thank all of the applicants for their submissions.
